The 8 lane freeway system will cost $70 billion dollars to contruct,including bridges,sandfilling of swampy areas,tunnels in hilly terrains. The proposed Nigerian coastal highwa is a great ideas and should extend from West Africa all the way to South Africa, and another highway whwich runs from Southern Nigeria through Kano,Niger republic ,and Libya.
The 8 lane Highway will have reserved red painted lanes for trucks and commercial buses ,while the rail tracks will demarcate the highway. Train stops will have underground bypasses for pasenger evacuation to either side of the highway. Natural overpasses will be be built in areas with wildlife.
Most cities in Nigeria are unplanned , it's time to think ooutside the box and build brand new cities on empty land. the existing cities should be demolished and relocate everyone to the new cities . Resources should be concentrated on building 20 world class cities . One of the sites of the cities should be coastal areas which fits well with the coastal highway plan .This means that most interior cities will be demolished and used as farmlands and parks .
Each city will cost $85 dollars to build x 20= $1.7 Trillion dollars . Stable electricty for all the cities =$65 billion . Currently,Nigeria only generates a revenue of $45 billion dollars pepr year from crude oil. Nigeria needs econominc diversification and an effcient taxation system to generate more revenue in order to be able to carry out sch lofty visions .For now , , you have an idea why this vision sees impossible because Nigeria is actually a poor country. Los Angeles which is just a city in the state of California generates a revenue of 10 billion dollars per year.
